“Psychotherapy can be a process to discover and reclaim the lost parts of ourselves and gain a sense of being whole, connected and vibrant.”

– Lale Akhrass

Based in London, Lale Akhrass is a UKCP registered integrative psychotherapist with substantial experience working with children of all ages, parents and adults.  She is deeply interested in the recovery from the impacts of traumatic experiences.  She provides a relational, whole-person approach to mental health and vibrancy.  Though her focus has been on the psychological and emotional health of children and teenagers, she now addresses the needs of people of all ages.  This is because her main concern is helping individuals to lead full and vibrant lives in spite of psychological pain, trauma and loss.  This all starts with the transformative power of being deeply understood when true needs, feelings, thoughts and perceptions are made known.

When struggling with emotional and mental pain, it is vital to reach out to a compassionate person for support.  If this is impossible or too difficult, then silent suffering occurs and feelings, or even non-feelings, are acted out in harmful ways.  Lale Akhrass believes positive change and growth is possible in the context of a therapeutic relationship by:

  • Embracing our painful experiences.
  • Acknowledging our embodied experiences and core emotions.
  • Connecting them with the thoughts, perceptions and behaviours that keep us stuck, shutdown or disconnected.
  • Having a new meaning for our experiences and their impact which is re-embodied in an integrated way.

With curiosity, compassion, creativity, patience and a safe place to face the difficult truth, each of us is able to move to a place of recovery, integration, connection and a feeling of wholeness.

Tips that make a difference:

  • Whenever you have any concern about your children, intervene as early as possible.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help, because the earlier a professional is involved, the easier it will be to help your children.
  • When you truly want to face the problems and desire real change, then positive outcomes are achievable.
  • A different and healthier approach to your experiences might be what you need.  This is where psychotherapy comes in.
